MOD POST: NOVEMBER EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
![]() Howdy, y'all! Faith here with your events for November. Since our October event was a beefy boy, we're pushing new things towards the end of November to give you more time to wrap up your angsty and/or violent threads. You can absolutely still hop into the logs if you haven't yet too! We know this event was A Lot and there's loads to work through. Let us know if you need any help with anything! A few reminders/announcements before we hop into that nonsense, though:
Aaand I think that's it! Let's move on to the fun stuff! ❧ november 16: hæiðrs-minni.Residents of the city will be informed in the days ahead of time that a mass funeral is planned for November 16, and the weather seems to be responding in kind. Where the last few weeks have seen leaves turning color and light winds, the sky becomes blackened with heavy rain clouds that pour down across the kingdom. The entire city is glum, no two ways about it. But it's not enough for Norsemen to simply be sad and call it a day; instead, there will be a full day of celebration and revelry to honor the cycle of life and death that fuels all of existence. This event will be split into three parts, each with its own focus/purpose. Your characters can participate in any part without having to participate in one of the others, and they can also be involved in the preparation of any part instead of simply attending if you'd like! We'll have a thread below for y'all to plot together if you want to help with setup, since your characters will know about the funeral ahead of time. ❧ part one: the funeral. To celebrate the lives of those taken by the Army of the Dead and those that fell defeating them, the gods are inviting everyone to join them on the riverbank of the castle grounds for a ceremonial send-off early in the morning. Without bodies to bury or burn, there will be a series of boats tethered along the shore that human natives will be filling with personal belongings or gifts to the deceased. This will be an incredibly somber affair and likely the least riotous of the day, as Asgardians both new and old mourn for those they lost. There is a small amount of awkwardness that comes with this ceremony too. The Wanderers that died in the battle were all resurrected afterwards, while the natives that died were not. None of the natives have shown any anger or hostility over this - and have in fact looked at those resurrected Wanderers with awed reverence ever since - but the disparity is felt most keenly for the first time since the battle itself. Their lives are a blessing, but yours are a miracle. What could reconcile that considerable gap between those under the gods' protection? The natives themselves, apparently. They invite you all to join them, sometimes by simply holding a willing hand, and ask you to place your own offerings in the boats. Whether you know someone that died or died yourself, or even if you're simply missing someone that you've lost, in this world or another, they encourage you to send off your sorrow with anything you want: a personal belonging, a gift, or even a handwritten note to your loved ones or yourself. Whatever you choose to do, the natives are grateful to share in it with you, in spite of or perhaps because of their own enduring sadness. When all the offerings have been placed, Heimdall will give a short speech honoring the fallen as the boats are released downstream. Honir will fire a single arrow towards the last one, and Odin will light it on fire as it soars overhead, splitting into a wave of shooting stars that strike each boat dead center. Even with the rain pouring overhead, the boats will continue to burn as they float gently out of sight, carrying everyone's grief away with them. ❧ part two: the dedication.Later in the afternoon, Njord and Mimir will invite everyone to Firar Samka, the cultural museum in Mimir's district. A new wing has been added to document Asgard's recent triumphs, but most especially to honor the unexpected stalwart allies of the kingdom: you, the Wanderers from other worlds. This display was added to memorialize the lengths you've gone to in the name of protecting and preserving life within the realm, the core purpose of Asgard in its entirety. You are heroes among gods and this exhibit seeks to portray that for all to see. The walls are peppered with art, from childish scribbles to masterful murals of various Wanderers or a massive dragon or hordes of ghoulish figures. There are inscriptions on the very walls themselves and other pages of poetry or firsthand accounts of the lives saved scattered around the hall. And to unveil it all with the appropriate grandeur, Njord himself will be reciting the tale of Asgard and the Wanderers conquering death. Throughout the day, Njord can be found alone or accompanied by some human skalds as they sing or read poetry or even sometimes reenact part of the battles against the Red Death and the Army of the Dead. Your characters can watch or join, and they might even hear their own names mentioned among the reverence and song. ❧ part three: the feast. The day ends as any good celebration should: with a massive party. Hosted at Nādhirhöll in Tyr's district, the entire banquet hall has been decked out in so many colors and leaves and lights that it might feel like walking into an overgrown forest tightly held in the grips of a sparkling autumn. Njord's district is proud to announce that vodka and a growing variety of beers and ales are now available throughout the city - with copious amounts provided for the night's festivities alongside tables piled high with food, all free for the taking. The natives seem jovial in stark contrast to the gloomy rain pouring outside, eating and drinking and singing and dancing throughout the night. If your character joins the party, they might notice themselves feeling more warm and relaxed over the course of the evening. They might have the unusual inclination to be more physically affectionate with people and vocally declare their appreciation to them. This is a "thanks giving" curse, if you will! It's hard to tell if it's the food, the alcohol, or maybe even just the atmosphere itself, but the longer one attends the party, the more they feel loose and happy and far too willing to tell their friends how grateful they are to be with them. You can play with the effects of this curse, as long as it is driven in some way by showing appreciation for someone. This party continues into the morning of the next day, something that many may not realize as deeply wrapped in an artificial forest as they may be. The effects of the curse fade as everyone stumbles their way out of Nādhirhöll, leaving a heavy blanket of strangely warm exhaustion behind. It's been a long and potentially emotional day, but the city seems to brought together under a shared relief and a new day. ❧ november 22: should you choose to accept it.The rain doesn't let up over the rest of the month, but something new seems to crawl out of the downpour all the same. As your character goes about their day, they might find a variety of small animals huddling in dry spaces or darting into buildings seeking heat. Cats, dogs, rabbits, mice and other such critters start appearing on November 22 and spreading throughout the city in various ways. You might find them running from one place to another, barking or nipping at someone's feet, or otherwise doing what animals might do when caught in heavy rain. Beyond simply appearing, however, some of the animals seem to want something from you. Maybe they follow you around until you pay attention to them, or maybe they just lounge in one space waiting for someone to approach. Maybe you find them in a precarious situation or have to rescue them from somewhere. Regardless of how you stumble upon them, without speaking or otherwise telling you what they need, you suddenly realize you have a choice to make as you interact with them. Will you accept their quest? You can really play around with the details of this one! Nothing larger than a dog is appearing in this animal event, and think common species you might find in most cities or towns. Not all of them are quest-bearing critters, and they're just kind of popping up everywhere the same way the previous animals did. If your character is offered a quest by an animal, it will be something absurd and possibly fruitless. They're cats and dogs. Why are you even taking a quest from them anyway? If you'd like some ideas for random quests to send your characters on, we have some guest NPCs for you to consider. (I hope at least one of you finds this as funny as I do.) ❧ our guest NPCs for this event.
All of these cuties were shamelessly stolen from the pet channel on the discord server. I said I would turn them into NPCs one day. :^) If you would like your pet's picture taken down, just let us know and we can remove it immediately. If you would like your pet's picture to be added to the nonsense for the hell of it, you can fill out the form in the comments below and we'll toss them on the quest board. This is a pure shitpost event, please have fun with what dumb things happen while these cute little animals wander their way into the kingdom. ❧ november events summary.
And that's what we've got for November! A whole lotta nonsense. Day 150 of the Wanderers being in Asgard hits us on the 6th, and I truly can't tell you how unbelievable that is to me. I started this project with big ambitions and we've hit a lot of unexpected bumps in the road, but this has been a wild ride and I'm so grateful to all of you for going along with us. We'll have a game HMD in December for you to give us some feedback on how we've been doing; we want to do our best to continue building this game and world up for you as we move into a new year together. Thank you again so so much more than I can say, friends. ♥ As always, please let us know if you have any questions/comments/concerns/dirty jokes in the comment section below, or hit us up on the mod contact page! ![]() navigation. |
