MOD POST: JANUARY EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
Jan. 8th, 2020 02:00 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Hello friends, and welcome to a new year! Faith here back at it again with the event descriptions for January. As we stated previously, we're starting on Arc 2 of Asgard Genesis and things will be kicking up a notch as Asgard continues to face the unknown challenges of the Wanderers' presence in Yggdrasil. Much of this arc will involve venturing out into the world for various purposes rather than solely remaining in the city, and there will be opportunities for exploring new territory, vanquishing threats, meeting new life forms, and other means of impacting the setting of the game. If you have any ideas or requests for things you think would be fun to run into, or if you'd like elements of your character's canon to be used in upcoming events, please always feel free to reach out to us on the plot request page! That all said, some reminders and announcements before we move on to January's events:
And here are our first major events of 2020! I want to apologize again for these going up late; the timing is a little wonky now, but hopefully this will carry us through to February. Without further ado: ( JANUARY EVENT DESCRIPTIONS ) And that's what we've got for January! We hope you enjoy this style of "go out and accomplish an objective" event, as it'll be the main focal point of this story arc. The world is much larger than Asgard's little corner, and we're seeking new opportunities for exploring and impacting Yggdrasil overall. There will of course still be events located within the city, but let us know what you think about these excursions beyond it and if there's anything you'd like to be changed or improved! As always, you can leave any questions/comments/concerns/dirty jokes in the comments section below or reach us on the mod contact page. Thanks again, y'all! ![]() navigation. |
GOD CURSE: SIGYN'S HOLIDAY SCAVENGER HUNT
Dec. 22nd, 2019 11:05 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Upon learning a little about the holidays, as well as this apparent need to decorate for them, Sigyn has taken it upon herself to try and spruce up Asgard in spirit of the season. Does she fully understand that spirit? No. What season even is it? Don't ask her. Her ignorance of what Christmas should accurately look like is very apparent -- just keep reading. Each Godhaus has been generously gifted with a holiday tree, outfitted with some decorations...and a little something extra. Sigyn will announce the arrival of these decorations on the network on the 25th (though I'll put the post up on the 24th so you have some wiggle room time to play things if you're busy on Christmas), as well as the fact that they aren't just there to look at -- Wanderers are welcome to visit each tree and take some gifts from each one to use for their own decorating purposes. All trees are outfitted with: - One specific magical decoration (or other bauble) that characters have been instructed to remove to take to their own Godhaus or residence. All magical items are basically just there to look cool and have no useful properties or secret hidden powers. If your character wants their specific orb ornament, they have to interact with their Godhaus' tree and receive that curse. All other curses are optional if they don't want to go decoration hunting, but they may collect as many other decorations as they wish and receive many more curses! Or, if you want to opt out entirely and receive no decorations, then that's fine as well! Each tree and curse is different, with the descriptions as follows: ❧ curse descriptions.❧ ODIN ( Outside Raven's Garðr now stands a 20 foot tall lemon tree. The scent of it is very pungent, magically so, but perhaps that's to be expected from the sheer volume of lemons hanging from its boughs. While some are real lemons, others are clear and shining, made of a yellow quartz that only makes the limbs bend lower. Interspersed are Wanderer ornaments, that when picked will contain yellow marigolds. ) ❧ NJORD ( Instead of being a traditional tree, the offering left outside of Finnalaun is basically nothing more than a 4 foot wide log sticking out of the ground and extending upwards of 40 feet into the sky. With no branches, the adornments are inserted into hollowed out holes in the side of the "tree," covered with sliding slats that can move up to reveal what's inside. In those without Wanderer ornaments, filled with blue hydrangeas upon being plucked, exist blue orbs that feel solid to the touch but that have no obvious permanence. When their doors are opened, the orbs are quick to try and float away into the air, so they must be caught quickly! ) ❧ SKADI ( Steina Lysa's Wanderer ornaments will be filled with large canna lily's, with other decorative baubles adoring the tree. These are spiked, but hollow and contain a wispy coloured smoke that changes based on the person whose possession it's currently in; on the tree, they remain a dazzling orange until removed. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this holiday setup, though, is Skadi's tree type. Instead of being something natural, it's been pulled directly from a child's drawing; a physical manifestation of juvenile art in 3D, large black lines included. ) ❧ SIGYN ( Sigyn has saved the more traditional looking tree for herself, and thus Teitr Morginn gets a large fir, typical and basically bland in every way -- except. Instead of traditional ornaments (though her Wanderer ornaments are still there, containing large sprigs of holly when taken), this fir tree is covered in orbs of corn. They can be cooked and eaten, but otherwise are eternal and impossible to damage. As an aside, there's also the smell of fresh baked cake emanating from the tree, mysteriously. ) ❧ TYR ( Fagna Heima receives a smaller version of an angel oak tree. Wanderer ornaments (filled with poinsettias) hang from wreathes places around thinner branches. These wreathes are made from shocking red flames, though they contain no heat. They can be removed from the tree if you're patient enough to walk them forward to the ends of the winding branches they hang from. ) ❧ HEIMDALL ( A large mushroom-like tree stands outside of Hlíf Drengr, and it spins quickly despite its roots being housed comfortably in the ground. Hanging from the clustered branches are various long objects, or collections of long objects: paper clip chains, popcorn strings, jump ropes, belts so long they'd basically be impossible to be worn. The important magical item is a strand of holiday lights made from an unbelievably strong vine, blinking lights made with an incredibly glistening rock material. They blink and change colour periodically, from soft pastels to more vibrant holiday colours. All swinging tendrils operate as if they have a mind of their own, though they don't act maliciously. Attached to the end of some swinging strands are the Wanderer ornaments, containing ranunculus when removed. ) ❧ MIMIR ( Taka Ráðs' tree, at a distance, appears to be a typical cherry blossom tree. Upon further inspection, one will notice that instead of flower petals, the blossoms on this tree are made up of hundreds of small spheres, floating around the tree without any sort of attachment. Occasionally, the small spheres detach and burst upon coming into contact with the ground, or perhaps even you!, leaving a cloud of pink haze and strong cherry scent. Tied to smaller branches are small purses, made with shimmering fabric. Inside are small chocolates, though whether or not they taste good is a roulette game. Some may be sweet, with a few that are indescribably decadent. Others may taste like something much more unsavory -- from sweaty socks, to dumpster sludge. Wanderer ornaments on this tree are filled with clematis flowers when retrieved. ) ❧ HONIR ( The tree outside of Flakkaheim is a medium-sized wisteria, though the tendrils strobe and blink, especially in the light of the setting sun when the whole tree is illuminated in a purple glow. The ambient lighting is accompanied by melodic tinkling and clinking, made possible by the ornate pens attached to the ends of the wisteria strands, gradating to a crystal clear, icicle point. They offer a much clunkier noise when they bang against the Wanderer ornaments, which bloom into a china aster when plucked. ) ❧ FRIGG ( In Frigg, Báðum Hǫndum has received a large tree that would otherwise look like any other that could be found in Asgard. The distinctive feature of this tree is that the outer branches are wrapped in a protective, thick shroud of spider silk, though the originating bugs are mysteriously missing. The silk is very fibrous, not easily broken though simple to move. Once you breach the wrapping, you'll find an ecosystem of movement flitting about. Small green butterflies blend in with the bright leaves, moving and flying about in between the Wanderer ornaments, which will bloom with white lotus flowers once retrieved. When touched, the butterflies freeze and fall, transforming into bejewelled pins. ) These trees will be hanging around Asgard for a week. On the night of the 31st, each one will explode into a brilliant display of fireworks, accompanied with a sweet smelling aroma. All decorations and ornaments will be gone, so characters have until then to collect any items they'd like to! And again, no items in this even have any magical powers outside of potentially being very sturdy or eternal. They're decorative! Feel free to ask any questions in the thread for them below, otherwise the post for this will go up on the 24th! This is very late due to moving + the holidays, so don't feel a lot of pressure to immediately plot or do anything. Just collect items, use magic, get cursed, profit. |
MOD POST: DECEMBER EVENT DESCRIPTION
Dec. 4th, 2019 11:32 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Hello hello, friends! It's Faith, back at it again with our new event post. December will have one longer event to combine with our intro log, so it's packed full of a lot of things to leave us free and open for the rest of the month. It is absolutely unbelievable to me that we've made it to six months of Asgard Genesis being open and that we'll be starting a new year together. I am eternally grateful to all of you that have given our game a chance, and I hope we can continue to make some good fun nonsense for you to enjoy! As usual, we have a handful of announcements before we can get into our upcoming events:
And that's what we've got for now! On to the more immediately fun stuff with December's events! ( DECEMBER EVENTS ) And that'll wrap up December and 2019 for us! Also the end of a decade, friends, how fucking weird is that? We really can't thank you enough for being here with us, and we hope you have a wonderful winter season in whatever way you might celebrate it. As always, let us know if you have any questions/comments/concerns/dirty jokes in the comments section below or hit us up on the mod contact page! ![]() navigation. |
MOD POST: NOVEMBER EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
Nov. 3rd, 2019 01:57 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Howdy, y'all! Faith here with your events for November. Since our October event was a beefy boy, we're pushing new things towards the end of November to give you more time to wrap up your angsty and/or violent threads. You can absolutely still hop into the logs if you haven't yet too! We know this event was A Lot and there's loads to work through. Let us know if you need any help with anything! A few reminders/announcements before we hop into that nonsense, though:
Aaand I think that's it! Let's move on to the fun stuff! ( NOVEMBER EVENT DESCRIPTIONS ) And that's what we've got for November! A whole lotta nonsense. Day 150 of the Wanderers being in Asgard hits us on the 6th, and I truly can't tell you how unbelievable that is to me. I started this project with big ambitions and we've hit a lot of unexpected bumps in the road, but this has been a wild ride and I'm so grateful to all of you for going along with us. We'll have a game HMD in December for you to give us some feedback on how we've been doing; we want to do our best to continue building this game and world up for you as we move into a new year together. Thank you again so so much more than I can say, friends. ♥ As always, please let us know if you have any questions/comments/concerns/dirty jokes in the comment section below, or hit us up on the mod contact page! ![]() navigation. |

![]() Hey, y'all! Faith here with our good fun nothing bad ever battle plot for October. Most of you answered our player poll with resounding support for running a longer event this month, which is super awesome. Thank you as always for your amazing feedback and support, we are incredibly grateful for your help improving this game as we go. I'm hopeful that what we've got in store for you will be fun and a little bit spooky too! A couple quick announcements/reminders before that too:

MOD POST: SEPTEMBER EVENT DESCRIPTION
Sep. 1st, 2019 12:06 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Howdy, howdy friends! Faith here with our event for September. We've also got a couple player plot things rolling out this month and a potential NPC pop-up event later on, but for now, we've got our first animal event to introduce new life into the world in true Asgardian fashion. Before all that, though, some quick reminders:
And that's all for what we have coming up soon! So let's jump right into September's event. ( SEPTEMBER EVENT ) And that's what we've got for September! (I really hope y'all get my dumb macabre humor here.) We'll be having our next battle scenario in October along with welcoming in our new characters, so stay tuned for more soon. As always, please let us know if you've got any questions/comments/concerns/dirty jokes in the comments section below or on the mod contact page. GOD CURSE: Skadi's Wildlife Preserve
Aug. 15th, 2019 09:08 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
█ AN OVERVIEW
Hey y'all, it's time for a pop-up Skadi curse! This is ideally the first of many different pop-up god curses, events, or other miscellaneous deific hullabaloo that are coming your way throughout the coming months from a wide variety of our resident NPCs.
Folks in the Discord may have seen Faith mention Asgard 'getting animals' in September. What she failed to mention? That'll be the second attempt to bring wildlife to our lovely city. The first one comes from Skadi. There's a problem here in Asgard - too few animals, too many Wanderers - to which there seems to be a fairly obvious solution.
From the 17th through the 20th, many of the Wanderers will find that they look and feel a bit.... different. They've taken the shape of some sort of animal, with no real clue on how to turn back.

MOD POST: AUGUST EVENT DESCRIPTION
Aug. 1st, 2019 04:29 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Hey, y'all! Faith here with our event description for August! Once again, we are combining our intro log with our event for the month as per our player poll, so there will only be one main to-do for August. However, we've also got a pop-up flavor event coming from Skadi later in the month - and this is still very much a tentative event schedule! Please always feel free to give us feedback on events and pacing over on the mod contact page so we can keep in touch with how you guys are feeling about things. We want to make sure you have enough to do without getting overwhelmed or bored, a terribly delicate balance to strike. If you're ever looking for more to get involved with, you can drop us a line on the plot request/suggestions page to ask what your character can get up to, or check in with some of the others on their player plots! We've got a ton of fun ones running, and you can find information about the ones that have been shared on this handy new player plot tag. A couple of reminders before we continue:
With that all said and done, let's move on to August's event! ( AUGUST EVENT ) ![]() navigation. |
MOD POST: JULY EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
Jul. 6th, 2019 12:14 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Howdy, everyone! Faith here with so many exciting things for July, starting with the results of our most recent player poll regarding event pacing for the game. Y'all gave me some really great feedback to work with! And the overwhelming consensus was that at least for the time being, it would be best to slow things down to one event per month and reassess where we are in the future. I am 100% on board for this and think this will be a good change of pace for all of us. Thank you, everyone! ♥ ( JULY ) |
MOD POST: JUNE EVENT FINALE + PLAYER POLL
Jun. 15th, 2019 12:22 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Howdy howdy, y'all! Faith here today with three good things in store, the first and foremost being that our June Test Drive Meme is now live! Share it with all your friends, enable some of your enemies, do what you do. As a reminder, reserves open on June 24, and applications open on July 1. You might notice there are no times associated with these dates! This is because we'd like to get some player input on our processing. We're currently operating in PST because 3/4 of the modsquad are in PST, but we recognize the difficulties this can place on people in other timezones when it comes to reserves and apps. Also midnight is just so late. :( In the interest of trying to make this work better for the game overall, we're putting this one to a poll! We're still limited in the window we'll consider again due to the personal schedules of the mod team, but we'd like to offer a few options for you to consider. Please give us your input on this poll! We'll update you on what the overall response has been sometime before reserves open. Thanks, everyone! Now let's move on the main dish: our event finale! ( JUNE EVENT FINALE ) |
MOD POST: JUNE EVENT DETAILS
Jun. 8th, 2019 01:30 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Hello all, and welcome to the game! We are so so excited to have you here with us! ♥ First things first, we have an OOC intro post up over here where you can meet and greet your fellow Wanderers and start plotting for some shenanigans. We also have our monthly intro log up over here so you can jump right into playing! On a more somber note, the players we had for Njord and Skadi unfortunately had to withdraw from the game for personal reasons, meaning these NPC slots are currently unfilled. We will eventually be opening applications to the playerbase for them, but we want to give everyone a chance to get adjusted to the game setting and general world first. We'll announce when that happens, but for now, interactions with Njord and Skadi will be handwaved. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to remedy this soon! ( JUNE EVENTS ) |
MOD POST: JUNE EVENT PREVIEW
May. 20th, 2019 10:25 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![]() Hello, hello! Faith here with a quick peek into June's events for y'all. Our normal monthly event posts will go up on the 1st of every month, but since this is our first app round, we wanted to let you know what kind of plot you'll be dropping into before you apply! This is because our game's very first event will be possibly our only mandatory metaplot for all characters entering the game in the June app round. While our events will ordinarily be optional, this one in particular is not solely because we are picking up the timeline of the game right from the very beginning of the story, with the first group of Wanderers appearing in Asgard. As you may have read on the selecting a god house page, this is not meant to be happening! So some interesting stuff will kick off right from the get-go. As a quick reminder before we get into the details of that, though: reserves open on May 25 at 12:01AM PST and applications open on June 1 at 12:01AM PST! The Test Drive Meme is also open until the next one is posted in June, so please feel free to continue mingling in there! ( JUNE EVENT PREVIEW ) |
