EVENT: an asgardian jungle
Hey, Asgardians! Welcome to April's event! A little lighter after March, but not without a degree of peril!THE INCIDENT
After the chaotic past month following Asgard's Visitors from elsewhere (link to last month's info posts) Honir's Scouts and Heimdall's Sentinels are asked to step up their roles, while Tyr's Ambassadors prepare for some more potential diplomacy...
Asgard, it seems, is still a little on edge -- and the gods are no exception. After Sigyn's early attempt to forcibly brighten things up went awry she retreated to do her duties, to care for the farms and plants. Her mind, however, is still not at peace. She cannot help but dwell on what happened at the cave, and on her own actions. It was the right thing to do, of course, but still it all felt so wrong.
On the morning of the 13th, her muddle of negative emotions finally overflow. At first, to those who see it begin, it may seem quite pleasant. More flowers grow quickly and burst into bloom, the world as a whole goes from cold to bright. Spring is arriving, and with it Asgard is slowly being transformed with colour and sunshine! A warm breeze rustles the trees, and it feels like all may be well once more. There's also the missing scent of earth that returns to the air.
Yet something is awry.
Sigyn's feelings are twisting in on themselves, tying themselves in knots. She feels trapped, and now it seems so will everyone else as the plants begin to grow out of control. They tumble over themselves in sudden, rapid movements, air thick with an oppressive odor of grass and leaves under attack.
All over Asgard vines burst from the ground and block doorways and windows, trapping some people inside -- or out! Trees suddenly grow where there were none, blocking pathways. Rose bushes spread out into thick, thorned blockades. It seems as if their desire to spread cannot be stopped, as if the magic is entirely out of control.
Then, there is silence. It has, at least, all stopped short of any major destruction of property. Yet it's certainly quite the mess! People have been cut off from each other, and there is thick vegetation that will now need to be cleared!
That may be easier said than done, however.
As a careful investigation begins, it becomes quite clear that some of these plants still have a little magic in them. Vines strike out defensively when attempts are made to cut them back, trees suddenly lift up and begin to walk, and those who linger near rose bushes find some of them fire their thorns like missiles. Hope you're quick on your feet!THE REACTION
FOR THOSE TRAPPED INSIDE → It is possible to escape your confines with enough physical effort, especially with some magic mixed in. Use a striking spell to slice through vines, or burn your way out of your home or dorm. If you're stuck inside with no magic to help free you, the oppressive plants outside will pulsate with magic throughout the day. Glass and wood won't totally hold under their pressure. Creeping vines slide into nooks and crannies, seemingly looking for someone to grab and pull at.
FOR THOSE TRAPPED OUTSIDE → If you feel more comfortable with a roof over your head, you're welcome to try and find your way home. It's very easy to get lost, especially with trees that will uproot themselves and disorient you to contend with. It's likely you'll be spending at least one day outside, where the plant life appears to exhale -- growth slows down, but vines, bark and stems all strengthen. It takes twice as much effort to cut through a section of growth during the night hours.
THE MAGIC AROUND YOU → Feel free to use your creativity for how plant life reacts to the citizens of Asgard who have the misfortune of falling prey to it. This can include physical reactions from certain plants, or maybe even pockets of curses that can be found -- which you can offer up any ideas you may have here for others to also plot with! Know of a funky type of tree you'd love to utilize for maximum pain? A beautiful flower you want to turn deadly? Lay it on us.
THE JUNGLE SUBSIDES → The amount of damage to structures seems minimal, but the overgrowth will take some days to tame. In fact, while Asgard is so overtaken by plant life animals begin to venture into it from the outside. Some simply are curious, others are too young to know better -- but be careful! Parents will defend their young, so that cute fox cub our young rabbit you saw may not be safe to approach after all!
Just like the previous event, the plant life doesn't simply vanish. It will lose all magic after the 17th, but the limp vines and uprooted trees will remain where they were once night fell. Work will have to be done to fix any damages and clear away what obtrusive sections of fauna remain.APRIL EVENT SUMMARY
❧ April Event SummaryOdin's latent curse (10th of April) will try and teach Wanderers to be as to the point as he is, with 24 hours of compulsive honesty... The Event Log will go live on the 12th! Event begins on the 13th, with Asgard being overtaken by plants and wildlife! Asgard is cleared of the worst of the overgrowth by the 17th Honir's latent curse (25th of April) will inspire Wanderers to explore and try new things, with 24 hours of restless energy...
