june event finale + player poll. Howdy howdy, y'all! Faith here today with three good things in store, the first and foremost being that our June Test Drive Meme is now live! Share it with all your friends, enable some of your enemies, do what you do. As a reminder, reserves open on June 24, and applications open on July 1. You might notice there are no times associated with these dates! This is because we'd like to get some player input on our processing. We're currently operating in PST because 3/4 of the modsquad are in PST, but we recognize the difficulties this can place on people in other timezones when it comes to reserves and apps. Also midnight is just so late. :( In the interest of trying to make this work better for the game overall, we're putting this one to a poll! We're still limited in the window we'll consider again due to the personal schedules of the mod team, but we'd like to offer a few options for you to consider. Please give us your input on this poll! We'll update you on what the overall response has been sometime before reserves open. Thanks, everyone! Now let's move on the main dish: our event finale! ❧ june 18 - 22: a dangerous deluge-ion. For a refresher on the main details of the event, please refer to the June Events post. This post is to fill us in on what terrible thing will be coming from one of your worlds into this one. Selected by RNG, our last day of the event will be a showdown with the Red Death from How to Train Your Dragon. You can find further details and a helpful video of this great big beastie on its wiki page. On the morning of June 22, all of the random junk from the previous days will have stopped falling from the sky. It might even seem peaceful again by morning light - but not long after the sun breaks the horizon, a great rumbling begins to ripple across the ground. It feels like an earthquake and sounds like boulders crashing together, and it lasts for a few frightful minutes before there's silence again. Then, with a sound like an unnatural tearing, a creature begins rising from the earth a few miles into the wilderness surrounding Asgard. Its massive body unfurls, cracking through trees and even colossal vines that seem to cross over its form, and it rears its head above the treeline with a fearsome roar that shakes the earth once again. From this point on, the battle is on, friends! ❧ great. now what happens? safety and security Alarm bells ring throughout the city, and the gods begin the process of evacuating their residents into the castle. Please help your neighbors escape to safety! Heimdall will be rousing Asgard's army and anyone willing to stand with them to form not only an offensive against the creature but a defensive line to protect the castle as well. Will anyone fight with them? The native humans are batshit terrified because they have never seen a dragon, let alone something this monstrous. Can anyone keep the populace generally calm and pls won't anyone think of the children? let's fight a fucken dragon because Faith didn't want to destroy the entire game The battle will largely be taking place on the outskirts of the city and deep into the wilderness surrounding Asgard. Anyone taking up the charge of slaying this foul beast has make it through the mystical forest itself before they even get to the dragon. Natives will be at Bærsveit Row in Heimdall's district arming anyone that doesn't have a weapon. Priority will be given to people going out to fight the dragon, but there will also be weapons for those looking to protect the city proper as well. Honir will be providing eight-legged horses to anyone that wants to ride one and attempting to clear a path through the forest. Will anyone join him in this first charge? The initial battle will take place on the ground as the Red Death also has to fight off the forest to become fully free. It might be pertinent to try to keep it on the ground; does anyone have any ideas for how to accomplish that? Doing damage to the wings and attacking it from its soft inside are the most effective ways to harm the creature and eventually kill it. Will someone be able to get all up in its business, or will we just have to wail on it until it keels over? what's the damage? For one, there will now be a supermassive hole in the ground where the Red Death emerged in the forest. Anyone that ventures close to it will see a mess of sharp rocks and crumbling earth that extends downward for a looong way. If anyone might want to actually climb in there to take a deeper look eventually, let us know. :) For now though, it is inaccessible due to giant fire breathing dragon between you and the hole. Thoughts for another day! Fire, just fire everywhere. The nearby wildlife will absolutely be burning, and this massive creature has a long range for its fire breath. If I'm not reading the wiki wrong, it can only do this nine times total, but that's more than enough to raze the entire kingdom if the Red Death isn't kept in check. The city is not unaffected! Fire will be licking at the edges of the city as the Red Death breathes fury all over the place. The rumbling in the ground continues as it stomps around too, sending constant tremors and occasionally even creating cracks and splits in the ground. Trees will be falling over and no one's really sure about the stability of being inside any of the buildings, so best to help each other flee to the castle if we're avoiding the fight. We'll see if the dragon makes its way close enough to the city to cause any further trouble; it'll depend on how well you all plan and work together! Weirdly, there also seems to be far more avian life than you've seen at any point during your time here. Flocks of birds come streaming out of the forests in a frenzied bluster, loudly crowing their way across the city. They will not be kind to anyone that gets in the way of them fleeing. Last but certainly not least, characters that die in this event will receive their first death consequence! This fight ends when the Red Death is killed! The gods will be assisting, naturally, but in lieu of the easy ~and then the NPCs save the day~ option, we're looking to you all to help us plot out exactly how this goes down. Some of the NPC team will have their kiddos in the comments so you can plot with them and start formulating a plan, even if that plan is just "and then everyone runs at it and hits it with things." We'll be working on finalizing your god powers so you can use them in this fight as well! Thank you for your patience with this, it's a real doozy. And that'll conclude our first plot event for the game! It may behoove us to find the little rascal whose world this dragon came from, and there should probably be some conversations about what in the hell happened here. Ah, well. Things to think about when the kingdom isn't being utterly destroyed! The first log for this event will go up on the 18th; the log for the Red Death Battle will go up on the 22nd. This will be all we've got for June! It's been a wild experience getting this game up off the ground, but I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have. theoretically, if LL tried to use his level one divination power on the falling object (he'll be assuming someone threw it into a portal or something), will it be able to 'hindsight' see anything? a negative is still an answer that could lead to theories so I thought to ask!

This is re: some of the chattering from discussion on the mod plurk, and also because I mentioned it in my toplevel--how successful would any of them be with harvesting body parts from the dragon corpse? Could teeth and scales and whatnot be used for weapons and armor?

Also, since her world is a big hot mess to hot mess, can they burn the corpse so they suddenly don't have a disfigured zombie dragon coming back from the dead to try and murder them all in their sleep?

Ah yeeeeees, huge dragon.

Damn, Peter really wishes his tech worked for this because the jet boots allow him to fly, and the bombs and Quad blaster are pretty self-explanatory about what they can do. If anyone can help fix those quickly, he would be able to give aerial assistance.

Fighting is what he does and big monsters are not that new to him. Peter will suggest looking for gunpowder or barrels full of the most flammable alcohol they have to throw them at the beast's wings. Ideally, those should be dropped from above and help damage the Red Death enough to keep her on the ground. There's the risk of being eaten though, oopsie.

If Peter's powers are approved, his first one is ' summoning a familiar'. It can take different forms, 4 of them (bat/owl/hawk/raven) can fly but none can't attack. That doesn't mean the bird can't fly up to the Red Death's face and distract it so someone else can damage her eyes or run away or...whatever you might need a distraction from.

He would love to ride an eight-legged horse but has no idea how and would probably fall and break a leg if he tried 8[

Well, Trevor can say for certain he's never had to scale something that big before. That being said, he's absolutely going to try.

Armed with a whip (which he came with) and a short sword (which he'll probably have to be given to him, since he only came with the whipe), Trevor is going to go full Shadow of the Colossus on this beastie, doing whatever he can to be a nuisance and, hopefully, not get eaten.

That said, Trevor is a mortal and thus there are absolutely opportunities for people who come from less-mortal backgrounds to completely boggle at him like "dude, wtf" or for them to see his combat prowess as a way to get an in onto big ol dragon fightan. I am open for both these things.

so, mel here is not the type to charge into battle, so she won't fight the red death. that's someone else's problem, thank you very much. she'll be a bit excited to see a big dragon, though, until everything kinda goes to fiery shit.

having spent her life in a fire temple, however, means that she knows how to treat burns, and i'm guessing that'll be necessary for at least some folks. gonna check back on this with the mods, but she'll be making some plant-based burn heal that... won't instantly cure things, obviously, but it'll soothe and help the healing process along.

loki won't be charging in to fight all you certified heroes can have the pleasure of that but he does have his first ability of Disguise Self which may prove useful in running hither and thither, hard for the Red Death to keep her eyes on (shifting appearance) if you need pulling out of the destruction. maybe a little stabbing of the dragon if it helps people get away for a time out to catch their breath

Dave is self-aware enough not to charge at a dragon (at least, not when there are many others that seem capable enough of it on their own!!), but he will be helping in the city to corral people in the castle, try to talk sense into people (hah), and will defend anyone if need be (with a sword that hopefully won't break as tends to happen with him).

If anyone wants to help him in these endeavors, or need help themselves as shit is going down, I am gaaaame.

I do want him to explore the hole, though, if just because there's many potential jokes to be had there. But it's also just something to do add so why not go plumb the depths of a gaping hole. So if anyone wants to team up for that lefty me know!

Nero | Devil May Cry

SORRY, DID SOMEONE SAY "TIME TO KILL A BIGASS MONSTER"

God this stuff is Nero's jam, however he's used to fighting devils and demons much larger than him with his own powers instead. So he's gonna be around and fighting and definitely going to try and help kill this thing and nearly get killed himself in the process. Does anyone want a dumbass devil hunter doing shit he shouldn't as a tagalong? He'll be great for team backup as well as solo stuff, though don't be surprised if he tries to outdo someone in the department of "crazy and fun."

Ivar "The Boneless" Ragnarsson | Vikings

Since Ivar clearly doesn't have a sense of self-preservation and it's a motherfuckin' dragon, yo, he's gonna be going along to try and kill it. He's not really all that great with any swift attacks, but he's got two strengths: he's very good with long-range weapons like a bow or throwing axes, basically anything that requires a lot of upper body strength and doesn't require him to move much.

The other, and probably more important asset, is that he's a very good strategist. He's the one of his five brothers who basically planned out every battle while they were raiding England and won every single time thanks to his out-of-the-box thinking. All he really needs is some basic info on the big beastie and he'll be able to think something up. Let me know if your character is the type to willingly follow orders from a nineteen year old loon!

Also, someone might want to drag him away if things get hairy because he absolutely will not know when to quit because he's a lunatic. Or a Viking. Or both.

Christopher Pike | Star Trek

So Pike's likely to want to go fighting, because Bad Life Choices, but he's much more likely to chill and stay in the city. Fighting and protecting is all well and good and in his blood, but what goods all that if there's nothing to come back to huh? So he's likely gonna be either helping form an evacuation plan in case the thing gets to damn close for comfort and also helping get people to the castle. This is one of those times where he's going to do the smart thing and not the jump in with his gut way.

Which means he's going to try and get like the important supplies along with people to the castle if he can and like, start looking at setting up fire brigades and shit if the fire really hits the city hard. He's around to get poked at for battle advice though, and he's likely to interject if the opportunity presents itself. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty either and help patch up people in basic ways at least, like he can bandage folks up and all but if it's like horribly mangled don't ask him for help fixing it (but he'll happily find someone who can).

Also he's down for spelunking after the fights over, because Giant Hole of Doom.

Bucky Barnes | MCU

Signing up to fight the big bad - dragon. Because why the hell not. Unfortunately, Bucky ran out of ammo - and lost his guns - prior to ending up in Asgard, so he's going to need arm himself and figure out how to fight with whatever's available to him. He's big on good old-fashioned coordinated attacks, so he'll look to work in a team, and since this is so far out of his wheelhouse - he'll be happy to follow a more experienced lead. he's a disciplined and experienced soldier, calm under pressure, good at spotting and exploiting openings, and also good with pulling crazy stunts.

Alice Liddell | Alice in Wonderland

Alice will NOT be fighting the dragon because she doesn't know how to and unfortunately, the Eat Me/Drink Me that will be coming from her world are now useless and are more or less just tasty cakes and drinks.

But she wants to help, so if someone wants to order her around to get water or wrappings or plants then she'll go get them. She is more than willing to be the little runner girl for the injured.

Alice and going down holes she's not supposed to is PREEEETTTY much her schtick so she'll be going down that hole when she's able.

Step 1: Denial. That ain't no dragon. IT HAS TOO MANY EYES.
Step 2: Realize she is no longer fireproof and that this is one fat, fugly dragon.

Okay no but in all seriousness, Dany is not a fighter, so she will be on the sidelines. Prior to the event, Dany will be around to teach people how to ride horses if you want your character to learn and be able to ride into battle.

During the event, she can be found doing the following:

🔥Speeches to rally people and/or give your character a kick in the butt to go fight and kill that wannabe dragon.

🔥Can offer tips about dragons if the initial battle fails. She knows of her family's history and witnessed her own dragon die.

🔥Will try to calm any NPCs and PCs down who are having a meltdown, so if your character is freaking out, she'll be a kind face and a firm word, whichever is needed.

🔥She's going to find out very quickly she is no longer fireproof in this world.

🔥Will probably help lead an escape when the tremors begin to rock the ground.

After the event, she'll definitely be interested in checking out the giant crater. She'll also want to inspect the corpse so if anyone wants to join her on either of those, let me know C: bubblytangerine

Excella Noa Aura | Shining Resonance

Excella has helped to kill seven (7) dragons (some of them were the same ones at different times) so she's going to be charging in with her lance at the ready. She doesn't have any of her gravity magic, and she can't summon any of her music-based powers either, so she'll just be doing straight melee DPS in this fight. (Feel free to fastball special her if you want her to get some DRG skills early.) The

She does also have a few charges of Spare the Dying per her god powers, so if anyone's bleeding out or otherwise dying then she'll stabilize them, but she definitely cannot heal anyone beyond making them stable. Hope team hospital's got some way to move the bodies, because she's not getting off this battlefield until the dragon's dead.

After that, she doesn't know how she'll be able to help out with the fires and the rebuilding, but that's going to be her number one priority, is making sure everyone is as safe as possible and there are still places to live. So there can be something at least resembling security here.

Theon Greyjoy | A Song of Ice and Fire

Theon doesn't care about dragons. Basically, he's the one Westerosi who doesn't give a shit if it doesn't come from the sea. But yeah, he'll shoot some arrows at it or something for the thrill of it. He could use his newly acquired "spare the dead" powers if necessary but he probably won't because he's a dick. He'll def be taking one of those eight-legged horses to marvel at what a freak it is but also because he likes horses.

But if the fire gets to be too much he'll probably have war Winterfell flashbacks and have to take a Moment.

Also, I demand someone gets shit on by a bird.

Tony has the power of Guiding Bolt as his level one spell, and can... beam people to death, if necessary. That being said, he needs to learn how to fight without his suit, and while Tony is absolutely willing to go do that, he's probably not going to be the best at it right off the bat.

So, all in all, he might better suited for evacuation and defense.

That being said, he's totally gonna chase after Steve and the other Avengers/Guardians, probably, and almost get himself killed.

Who wants to deal with Tony Stark, anybody? Bueller?

Depending where Tony follows, I can definitely have Nero deal with him. Nero is gonna be in the “almost definitely going to get himself killed” group also, so they can commiserate about being in pain or whatever else. Asgard is bullshit.
